as my title suggests, yes, i am totally random. but hopefully in the quagmire of all the thoughts that pour in one ear and out the other, i hope to learn more about me, and grow as a person and as an artist.

tired

just got back from walking around the neighborhood. tired but well worth it :)

tiring day yesterday. went to yb gardens to check out the sf theater fest. i saw about 6 short (30 min @) performances. it was kinda inspiring. i woulda been more inspired had it not been so hot. not exactly sac hot, but warm enough. some highlights: saw aatc play about 2 women living in NYC. was ok. performances were well done, but need to see the whole play. can't wait. then went to see this other group perform a short one-act which was an allegory on ww1 about neighbors living in a cul-de-sac. wtf is a cul de sac. i know that it's part of a neighborhood, but it just sounds so frou frou to say that. i live in a cul de sac. actually that sounds kinda nasty. "yeah, i live on the base of the cul de sac" ew. "why does the cul de sac smell like funk?" ew. but i digress... anyways, that play didn't make any sense to me. one of the actors was so baks. it was hard to concentrate on him. overall, the actiing wasn't very good. hey, takes one to know one. after them was a couple of scenes from the african american shakespeare company. there were four of them, but they were really good! they did a couple of scenes from remixed shakespeare plays and used current topics like the bombing in lebanon and isreal. after seeing them, then waited to check out a group called no nude men dancing... and they did a 30 minute version of les miz, but with all speaking instead of singing, which was cool since i knew all the lyrics anyways. after that, i checked out this band called crooked family who were performing a rock opera called thanatics. was okay. they had a lot of tech problems. the guitarist's amp was way too loud, which is cool if you were the one playing guitar, but sucks if you're in the audience trying to understand what's going on with the story. after a number, he eventually turned the amp down. the story was about how a bunch of artists in san francisco start a popular art movement where they start killing themselves. pretty crazy... might check them out at the fringe fest. after that, then i went to check out a sketch comedy troupe called "richter scale". my favorite sketch was with these 2 girls who work as tour guides to sf before it sinks into the ocean. anyways, they compared the real estate mogul of trump in ny and nj to the ACADEMY OF ART UNIVERSITY in sf. OMG. i died. they said how the school is taking over every neighborhood... which is starting to look true.

after all this, i finally got hungry and ate some lunch at metreon. and being the most insane person i know... i walked over to the curren and bought me a ticket to chorus line. it was a mezzanine, but i wanted to check it out. but the ticket guy said to come back right before the show to see if i could upgrade the tic for sumn better, which i did. and bada-bing! score. traded my tic for row h seat 103... orchestra center! i literally got goose bumps when it started. fantastic cast! great ensemble. they were really... together! plus, it has the star of curly sue as one of them. :) pretty cool. hope that it plays for a long time on broadway. can't wait for the new recording to come out as well.

jeez, louise, all this in one day! sayonara. *bow*

great weekend

what a great weekend! i'm still so very tired but i just wanted to get this down before i turn in.

crap, i already forgot what i did after work on friday. oh, well. i was planning to go to sac early on saturday, but i got caught up in trying to figure out how to save vids from youtube and finding a flv player for the mac. i found 4 different ones but only two of them work, kinda. so yeah, i did leave later than i wanted cuz auditions started at 1... i got there at 2:30pm. i was fun seeing my lil sisters there. it's so crazy how much i miss them even though i see them a couple of weeks at a time. after the auditions, there was like an hour before rehearsals for the rex show starts. sis, bri, and i went to get some vietnamese sandwiches. i'm sorry, but you can't beat that! dude, avg price was $2 ! daymn, gina! anyways we got that and some boba drinks and back to the space. it was nice just hanging out at a rehearsal. i wish more than anything to be involved with everything again, but it's just not my time anymore. but as usual, again, i got nostalgic about stuff again.

however, i did gather up the courage to let some of my friends/lil brother and sisters read my script. i didn't sit with them, but i did notice that while they were reading, they actually dug it. i was so embarrassed when my lil sister, whom i love very much, asked, "kuya, what does bumping uglies mean?" i felt so bad... :( overall, they seemed to like what they read. unfortunately, they had to rehearse and they didn't finish the script together. but after i finish a couple of re-writes, i'll send it over to them. but i was actually on a role with my rewrites that i needed to get them printed out. so i went over to kinkos on j next to sac state and after like an hour of typing i printed out my 36 pages for $17, and made a couple of duplexed copies.

then off to the stock market to see my favorite band, TAAL, play :) they were great! i was really pleased to hear how tight the harmonies in the vocals were. thumbs up. i worked the door and was stoked that i got everyone to pay up! it was late so i went to chaka's place for a sleepover =p we stayed up trying to get a powerpoint presentation to work properly... it didn't. my poor computer couldn't keep up. there were two factors - one the images were incredibly huge and two, my ppt was using a diffent dissolve than on a pc ppt. luckily xle was able to bring her laptop and run it from there. frustrated we called it a night.

my dumb internal clock woke me up at 6am *shaking fist* and started watching wimbledon, which i was really stoked to watch. i was hoping that nadal would be able to pull it off. i miss good ol sport rivalries. after waking up, we went for breakfast at this swanky "cafe" on 33rd. :) not bad prices. afterwards, we jetted to tarjay to buy some black clothes since i FINALLY got to work as part of the stage crew. yay! anyways, bought black jeans, a black t, and black shoes. plus some colored stickers for my sis who worked as stage manager. man, what a stressful job. i don't know how my sd sistah did it year after year for a WAY BIGGER SHOW!

then off to the crest to set up for the concert. when we got there, i asked, "so... where's the projector?" unfortunately, it was left at my auntie's house. it was still early so we jammed over to south sac to pick it up. it was nice talking to my auntie on our way there. i miss her a lot. since i'm so close to both of her kids, she really feels like my mom. yup. i love her family lots. anyways, back to the story, we got back to the theater in 30 minutes and i plugged everything in. before the show, i got to hang out with rex just for a little bit. i felt so bad that he was in the dungeon by himself. it's actually kinda funny, well i would if i was down there by myself, but it might be just me. the show went well. i didn't fall. i was so tired, since remember, i got up at 6am! so at the end of the show, i was wiped out. rex killed! then i realized, how the hell am i gonna get back to the yay area without crashing. i managed and got back ok. then i went to sleep, as i am about to do.

nyt yall!
