as my title suggests, yes, i am totally random. but hopefully in the quagmire of all the thoughts that pour in one ear and out the other, i hope to learn more about me, and grow as a person and as an artist.

pda

so my favorite tv show right now is a show on tfc called pinoy dream academy. it's basically combining american idol with big brother. a group of singers are put into a performing arts academy where they learn how to be perfomers/singers/composers. i was first introduced to this concept when flipping through the channels and saw a show on Azteca TV called La Academia. I just remembered the seen were there were some 20-somethings living in a house with mirrors all over. being a fan of big brother, i thought that it was just that - a mexican version of big brother. then over a loud speaker a someone told them to rehearse. and then they started singing. wha? after a couple of more episodes, i saw them in a dance studio dancing and singing. wha? then came the gala night when the sang. honestly, they pretty much weren't the best of singers. but all i kept wishing was that my spanish was better! but i wished forever why the usa couldn't do a show like that! abc did last year with a show called "the one". lasted 2 episodes. good in theory, but was too much like ai since they didn't have a daily show of them in the house where we could see their personalities more.

now we come to pinoy dream academy or PDA for short. i first caught the show at the 1st expulsion night gala. 20 of the scholars performed and 4 of the scholars are nominated for expulsion from the academy. so over the past 12 weeks i've watched the show everyday and night (2 shows a day except saturday - gala night, and sunday - usually the nomination show) and have come to get into they're lives as perfomers and people. the slogan is "Ang Drama Sa Likod Ng Mga Pangarap" the drama inside their dreams.

so everything above is expository writing which is something i'm trying to get rid of. but i love the show because 1) i'm jealous that they get to do something that they love to do and that's music 2) get to know more about the person and not just the performer 3) reminds me of fame with the lessons that they learn - and not all are about performing - some lessons are about life 4) knowing these people are reaching their dreams. i know that it's still a tv show for ratings and that's why some people are picked to be in the academy which aren't all based on talent, but at least it's on and i can appreciate that.

what can i say. this is a boring post, but it's random... me.
